Early Diwali!

In Marathi we have a saying which goes: "Sant jana yeti ghara tochi Diwali, Dasara". It gets translated as: "The day a holy man comes to your house, it should be celebrated like Diwali or Dasera". Last Monday September 13th, I got an opportunity to celebrate early Diwali and Dasera! I had the good fortune of welcoming my Guru to our house. There were lights, flowers, rangoli, fragrance, food around and we all were blessed by his presence.

I can never forget this day in my life. Jai Gurudev...

A person is living in the USA for 30 yrs but spent the first 22 years of his life in Pune. Where do you think his loyalties should be? And where do you think his loyalties would be? I first asked this question to myself when I heard Raj Thakarey accusing the Bachchan's about their loyalties to Maharashtra and how they are socially more concerned about UP (their home state) than Maharashtra. Wake Up Sid

Yesterday night saw this new Hindi movie called "Wake Up Sid". I liked it! Many of the recent Hindi movies were such duds that I was pleasantly surprised to watch this one. The relationship between Sid and Aisha ( the 2 protagonists) was beautifully developed. No awkward moments between them. Even at the end when they express their love for each other, the director did not feel the need of showing a kissing scene. I loved the way they hug each other at the end....it was very warm. On another note, I am always curious to watch the new generation Indians in the movies. I always have a little critical attitude towards their ways in life and feel that its too westernized for what India is in my heart. But today I realized that even though they eat pizza and pastas, call each other "dude, wassup" or are too candid about their sex lives, the essence of "Indianness" is everywhere!
