Leader or a Politician?

I thought hard about the topic to start my first blog with. And could not think of anything else than politics! I have developed an acute interest in politics since the past year or year and a half. I guess my husband was responsible for that...coz he loves it. Currently, everywhere I go...on NPR while driving, to google news at work, to casual chats with my colleagues till I reach home to watch TV....there is only one thing you will get to here and that is US elections. Obama or McCain, democrat or republican?

I am a liberal, always have been. And I support Obama and here is why:
1. Highly educated
2. Gun control law
3. Excellent orator
4. Multi ethnic
5. Anti war
6. Pro choice

These are the issues that matter to me the most at this point of time. Apart from these issues, why I think I like Obama as the President is the image makeover that United Sates will have for the rest of the world. I hope that he changes the US foreign policies for good. I really like the fact that he does not want to show muscle to his enemy but thinks about talking with them and sorting things out. Isn't that what is needed today? So many lives would be saved if people do not wage wars but instead solve their issues peacefully.

Yes, I have hopes from him but at the same time I do not forget that he could after all turn out to be a mere politician. What is the difference between a politician and a leader? Gandhiji was a leader but Nehru was more of a politician....there's the difference. Leaders will first think of their followers while politicians will first think about themselves....that's the main difference I feel. Will Obama turn out to be a good leader of his country or will he like others get lost in the world of politics? It remains to be seen....

There was a new twist in the game when Sarah Palin was introduced. She perfectly did her job by stealing the media focus. The media breaks or makes you...how true.

It is going to be tuff for Obama for various reasons....his race, his middle name, so forth and so on. Lets see if American citizens can make the right decision this time. At the end, I hope whatever happens, happens for the good. I know its a cliche, but I hope that good be world peace and harmony!

When leadership is politicised, it stands to lose its charm.

"Leadership is eveyones business"...remember?...but unfortunately that doesnt happen...thats y the world needs Politicians.

And hats off to the mainstream media to show the candidates in a candyflossed way. I mean come on..Sarah Palin's hair cut and her daughters pregnancy is more important than because of what foreign policies kids are dying elsewhere in the world right?...and so is it equally more important to know abt Michelle Obamas fashion sense and how Edwards cheated on his wife...than to know how abt the actual root causes of the highly sensationlized topic of terrorism.

So I would say....Go Mc Cain and Go Obama...coz we wont know until after 4 yrs of the same grind in ne case.

If I sound doped...its just Friday blues.

Remember Palo...Just Haffun thats all we can do.
